Hey look Enrique is in my city !
And thats totally true, Enrique Iglesias the famous popstar has recently made a partnership with CityVille, one of the most played games on facebook which has over 232 millon active monthly users in 166 different countries. And he now can go by and pay a visit to your city.
Cityville is from Zynga games, which reportedly occupy all five top positions among games on Facebook. (The other four are Empires & Allies, Texas HideEm Poker, FarmVille, and Adventure World.)
In only a week, players were able to build “Euphoria Arenas” in their cities collect some free branded virtual items, preview a video of his single “I Like How It Feels” and interact with the singer’s avatar.
The Enrique game feature ran from October 4th to October 10th in CityVille.
Some features Enrique brings with him:
·         Enrique Himself, a la Zynga – When Enrique appears in your city, click on his avatar to see what he has to say!
·         Enrique Lifestyle Items – Collect Enrique’s trademark brown boots, leather bracelet, military cap and even a 2-seater plane that celebrates his love of flying.
·         Limited Edition Rewards – Place an Enrique-themed speedboat and Miami high-rise in your city.
·         Fun “Quests” In-game – Obtain ten Enrique concert posters from friends and collect earnings from 30 businesses in your city.
·         Euphoria Tour Stop – Build Enrique’s Euphoria Arena and unlock a preview of Enrique’s newest music video in-game “I Like How it Feels” (featuring Pitbull and The WAV.s).
This partenership comes accompanied by Quique’s new tour presenting Euphoria. Enrique is the third celebrity to enter the virtual worlds from Zynga, previously with appeareances of Dr. Dre in mafia wars and Lady gaga in farm ville
The game is totally free for everyone, Zynga only makes money from the relatively small number of users who purchase virtual goods that enhance their gaming experience, but after four years of operation the company has become quite profitable, taking into account that 72 million players collaborate with others to build their own virtual cities with parks, farms, football stadiums, even taco retailers.
Since Facebook has implemented Facebook Credits payment system, every gaming company that uses facebook as a platform is having some drawbacks. The new facebook credit policy takes a 30 percent cut of revenue on the sales of all those virtual goods.
So what do you think, is this a good way to get players for their games? Is Enrique Iglesias reference of our culture, or would you have chosen somebody else?

Kmart for Hispanic Moms

Kmart has recently launched ‘Madres y Comadres’, a web series campaign that explicitly targets spanish speaking latino moms and gives a humor touch to everyday situations they are faced with while rising their children in a bicultural environment.

On youtube.com/madresycomadres besides the webisodes, you also have videos of Hispanic moms telling their real life bicultural anecdotes, and recommended Kmart looks.

They are actually quite entertaining to watch, and if you really liked it and are a Hispanic mom, you can tell your stories and send them your feedback because Kmart is listening to you (I wonder why?)

Definitely a smart move from Kmart, more should follow.

You know you’re Hispanic when…

”the party starts at 6 instead of 3 as stated on the invitation”

”your parents refer [to] any grocery store as El Super”

“you know the words to La Cucaracha by heart […]”

I just found this Hispanic Facebook page and loved it!

I think you know you’re Hispanic if you liked this page and laughed at how true everyone’s posts are!

Ah! I believe this Social Media craze is like one GIGANTIC focus group. Think about it. How many brands come up in Social Media discussions?

Even just looking at this single Hispanic Facebook page I could get quite a few examples, and not surprisingly, these are some of the brands that have strong Hispanic oriented campaigns:

That’s it por hoy!

Hasta mañana.

Yo ♥ FBI

Earlier this year, the FBI, in it’s attempt to connect with the hispanic population in the US, launched an online campaign to reach their goal.

The main objective was to build awareness and trust of the FBI amongst US Hispanics.

To achieve this, the FBI appointed Captura Group who developed a Spanish version of the FBI website, with articles on common frauds and crimes, and other resources to educate Hispanics on these matters.

Since the Spanish version of the site launched on January 20th this year, it has received over 150000 visitors and 24 Spanish language articles have been published.

These articles have also been reposted on leading Hispanic websites in an effort to reach the target more effectively and get their message across.

I actually found the posted information very educating, although it was a pity I couldn’t find a share button on any of the articles.

Hasta la próxima!

Pitbull Album comes with Apps now

ROBA Interactive and Pitbull teamed up to launch the artist’s latest album ‘Planet Pit’ which comes with a most innovative feature: an interactive iPad app that gives you way more than a ‘behind the scenes’ peek!

Planet Pit album also features Latino stars Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, J-Lo, as well as other worldwide artists such as Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx and Kelly Rowland.

The ROBA app this album includes allows you to see what happens in the studio as Pitbull records and interacts with the other artists. You will be able to witness not only 360º views from his Hotel room, but also his ”Closet studio”, session notes, isolated tracks, handwritten lyrics, an interactive timeline of his career and everything a Pitbull fan could desire. Well, that is, except the flesh and bone Pitbull himself.

Stay tuned!

Choose your fave Chica Tecate

On the 20th of June, Cerveza Tecate launched its new summer campaign inviting everyone over the age of 21 to vote for the chicas calientes that will be representing the brand throughout the year.

By liking the Tecate Boxing Facebook page (facebook.com/TecateBoxing) you will be able to meet the contestants- via video, photos and posts. You can vote for your favourite girl up to 5 times every day!

And that’s not all, every time you vote, you increase your chances of winning a trip for two to a major boxing event, with exclusive behind-the-scenes access, so that you can live the real VIP boxing experience. As a second prize, you can win a pair of gloves signed by Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and there will be 10 third prizes (a selection of boxing-themed items).

The 4 most popular competing girls will be crowned Chicas Tecate and will be representing la ‘Cerveza con Carácter’ on upcoming events.

So, whom are you voting for? I’ve voted for Maria Elena Anaya, who cares if she can’t spell ‘Gracias’ properly.

Stay tuned for more updates on Hispanic oriented campaigns and news!

By: @rafs84

PS: Details on this promotion will be communicated to fans through thematic POS displays at retail venues across the U.S.
